Spectator Safety

This is a regulated qualification that has been designed specifically to address the needs of candidates who wish to gain the requisite skills in spectator safety, ultimately leading to a nationally recognised qualification. It is ideal for learners looking to work in the match day or events stewarding industry, including a variety of sporting and musical events.

The HABC Level 2 NVQ Certification in Spectator Safety provides the knowledge and competency components for the Intermediate Level Apprenticeship in Spectator Safety.

The qualification is comprised of six mandatory units which learners are obliged to complete.

The mandatory units are:

  • Prepare for spectator events
  • Control the entry, exit and movement of people at spectator events
  • Monitor spectators and deal with crowd problems
  • Support the work of the team and organisation
  • Help to manage conflict
  • Deal with accidents and emergencies

Qualification is assessed by a portfolio of evidence from the candidate and is Internal Quality Assured. The HABC Level 2 NVQ Certificate in Spectator Safety (QCF) has been accredited by the regulators of England, Wales and Northern Ireland (Ofqual, Welsh Government and CCEA) and is part of the Qualifications and Credit Framework.

It is supported by SkillsActive, the Sector Skills Council for sport and active leisure sector.
