HABC Level 2 Award for Working as a CCTV Operator (Public Space Surveillance) within the Private Security Industry (QCF)

This is a required qualification for any person wanting to work in the private security industry. Under the terms and provisions of the Private Industry Authority Act 2001 a recognised qualification is needed before an individual can apply for a license.

The HABC Level 2 Award for Working as a CCTV Operator (Public Space Surveillance) within the Private Security Industry (QCF) qualification has been created and developed to be relevant to the requirements of the Security Industry Authority (SIA), and is based on all the relevant markers stipulated by the SIA Specifications for Learning and Qualifications. The candidate will be taught the necessary skills, knowledge and awareness required to apply for an SIA licence and work as a CCTV operative.

The qualification is regulated and comprises three mandatory units:

  • Unit 1 – Working within the Private Security Industry
  • Unit 2 – Working as a CCTV Operator within the Private Security Industry
  • Unit 3 – Practical Operation of CCTV equipment within the Private Security Industry

The minimum contact time for the qualification is 23 of the overall 32 guided learning hours. Please refer to the specification for full details of the delivery requirements.

This qualification enables the learner to progress onto the NVQ in Providing Security Services or undertake further learning in other areas of the private security industry such as security guarding or door supervision.

Qualification Details

The HABC Level 2 Award for Working as a CCTV Operator (Public Space Surveillance) within the Private Security Industry (QCF) has been accredited by the regulators of England and Wales (Ofqual and the Welsh Government) and is part of the Qualifications and Credit Framework (QCF). The qualification is also supported by both the Security Industry Authority (SIA) and Skills for Security (SfS).
