Door Supervisor

The HABC Level 2 Award for Working as a Door Supervisor within the Private Security Industry (QCF) has been developed specifically to meet the requirements of the Security Industry Authority (SIA), the governing body for the security industry in the UK. The qualification is therefore ideally suited to address the needs of learners who wish to apply for an SIA licence and work as a door supervisor within the private security industry.

The curriculum for the qualification is based on the relevant SIA Specifications for Learning and Qualifications and provides the necessary skills and knowledge for candidates looking to apply for an SIA licence.

The Private Security Industry Act 2001 stipulates that all individuals wishing to work in the private security industry must undertake a recognised qualification before applying for a licence.

Entry Requirements

The qualification is open to anyone aged 18 or over.

Mandatory Units

The qualification consists of four mandatory units:

  • Unit 1 – Working within the Private Security Industry
  • Unit 2 – Working as a Door Supervisor within the Private Security Industry
  • Unit 3 – Conflict Management within the Private Security Industry
  • Unit 4 – Physical Intervention Skills within the Private Security Industry

Of the required 45 guided learning hours a minimum of 32.5 hours are required as a minimum.

Qualification Progression

The HABC Level 2 Award for Working as a Door Supervisor within the Private Security Industry (QCF) enables the learner to progress onto the NVQ in Providing Security Services. Alternatively the learner can undertake further learning in other areas of the private security industry such as CCTV operations or security guarding.
